Open Access Policy
The Journal of Science and Technology of Engineering, Chemistry and Environmental Protection (JSTECEP), published by Dean&Francis, is committed to the permanent and free availability of scholarly research. We believe that removing barriers to research in science and technology accelerates innovation and empowers the next generation of researchers.
All research published in JSTECEP is fully Open Access, providing immediate and unrestricted access to the work for readers worldwide.
1. Licensing and Copyright
To ensure the widest possible distribution of research, JSTECEP utilizes the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
- Author Ownership: Authors retain the copyright to their work. You do not "sign away" your rights to the journal.
- Public Rights: Under the CC BY license, readers are free to share (copy and redistribute) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon) the material for any purpose, even commercially.
- Requirement: Users must give appropriate credit (citation), provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.
2. Benefits for Authors
By publishing under an Open Access model with JSTECEP, authors benefit from:
- Higher Visibility: Articles are available to anyone with an internet connection, including researchers in developing nations and students at institutions without expensive database subscriptions.
- Increased Impact: Open access articles typically receive more citations and social media mentions than those behind paywalls.
- Compliance: Our policy meets the requirements of most major funding agencies (such as the NIH, Wellcome Trust, or European Commission) that mandate open access for research they fund.
3. Self-Archiving Policy (Green Open Access)
JSTECEP encourages authors to share their work. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their submitted version (pre-print), accepted version (post-print), or the final published PDF (Version of Record) in:
- Institutional repositories (e.g., your university’s digital library).
- Personal websites or blogs.
- Subject-based repositories (e.g., SSRN or RePEc).
This may be done immediately upon publication, with no "embargo" period.
4. Article Processing Charges (APC)
As a member of Dean&Francis, JSTECEP operates on a sustainable Open Access model. To cover the costs of peer review, professional editing, website maintenance, and global archiving, a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied to papers accepted for publication.
Transparency: There are no submission fees; the APC is only charged if your paper is accepted.
